Welcome friends and otters. site updated 6/15/2024,
blog updated 6/15/2024
News:
-New blog post up for June 16th. Bio updated to fix a couple of typos.
-My first short story, inspired by a contest challenge and submitted to that contest, placed third [insert dancing emoji]
-I am once again posting snippets from my work as part of Weekend Writing Warriors. I might miss a few weekends, but I will try to post on most of them.
-the Viking Galleries page...is still there! I've removed some images and added others. The final inspiration image for Jorgen is now up.
-Link to my artwork on NightCafe AI Studio. This includes character art for the Viking stories and The Christmas Carrols, as well as some other things I've done just for fun. Please note: no real artists have been harmed by these creations. I am very much against human creativity being replaced by artificial intelligence, and would not use an AI image in or for any published work. In fact, please look at my Hall of Shame gallery on NightCafe to see examples of how vastly inferior AI is to human talent.
-Exclusive Excerpt is the first chapter (draft 1.5) of North Pole: Confidential. Please use the "Exclusive Excerpt!" link on the side menu, as the button above is not working (not sure why, but I lack the know-how to fix it).
I've been off FB so long I got locked out--and while I have a new personal account, I am unable to access the Kate Warren page I had previously created as it is tied to the locked account. I am appearing regularly on Pinterest. I have no plans to join TikTok. I have not been on X-Twitter for a while. Might open a BlueSky or Threads account--haven't decided.
Who the heck is Kate Warren? A writer of strange and wonderful things: mostly humorous fiction, sometimes contemporary and sometimes historical. Occasionally I jot down a poem or song, but mostly I write novels. Learn more about me on the Author Bio page. The unofficial trailer for Bridging The Gaps is below.
eBooks of my contemporary novel Bridging The Gaps are available for $2.99 and make a great gift! Look for them on Amazon, BarnesAndNoble.com, and will be coming to new platforms soon via Draft2Digital.
