Autumn is here.

This is the weekend of the Thirty-somethingth annual Warrens Cranberry Festival.  The last full weekend of each September in the town of Warrens, WI is dedicated to celebrating the cranberry.  Wisconsin is a leading cranberry producing state, and Warrens is the cranberry capital of the state.  For the three days of the festival, a village of about 400 people gets up to 100,000 visitors from all over the world.  There's food.  There's fun.  There's a parade.  For the many years I lived in Warrens the Cranfest, as it is often called, was a part of my life.  Between my church, 4-H, and singing I mostly worked.  Never been to the fest just for fun.  Someday I will change that, but not this year.

This year we are spending the weekend working through the first of the annual "I brought it home from school" viruses.  The little ones seem to be on the other side of the cold that's been plaguing them all week.  Now the goal is to keep the adults from getting sick.

In the meantime we are enjoying the cooler weather, the changing colors of the leaves on the trees, and trying new comfort foods.  I think I've invented a pumpkin soup recipe, and tonight with my 9 year old's help I came up with a recipe for a fast and easy dinner which I will now share with you:

Sloppy Chops
Put  4-6 pork chops in a pan.
Pour Sloppy Joe sauce over them.
Bake.

Try it for yourself and let me know what you think.

As of today 75% of my children are back in school.  Tomorrow we see about whether or not our baby will go to 4 year old Kindergarten this year.  What does this mean for yours truly?  Hopefully more time for things like writing, editing, blogging, reading, and other such sanity-retaining pursuits.

Techincal difficulties are raining down at my house lately.  My netbook, which is my primary work computer seems to be slowly dying.  I may be able to get another year out of it, which would be nice.

We've been working on the house and one of the next priorities in reshuffling and painting is my office.  Right now it's looking like it will be a small part of a closet.  I will post a picture if it doesn't end up looking terribly shabby.

Sorry for the short post, but I've got work to do...finally.  :D
