Blue days.

Sometimes we just get down.  Often there is a reason, illness, sleep-deprivation, a day when things just are not going the right way.  What's the best way to feel better?

If you're at all like the heroine of my latest novel, you'll get a bottle of wine and a sledgehammer and do some "remodeling."  Please note that I don't recommend that approach.  Sometimes my characters get away from me.

I usually prefer a less destructive course of action.  Music, chocolate, sunshine, a nice long walk, a good book or funny movie.

I'm having one of those days where things are off, or more accurately, I'm off.  Too tired to be irritable.  Little things have been nagging at me, and I have a pile of things to do.  Of my usual modes to lift the blues, the ones that are open to me aren't working.
So I'm asking...what do you recommend?  What's your sure-fire cure for the blues?  I'm open to anything that's legal and doesn't involve travel or alcohol. Or cutting my hair (I'm trying to grow it out right now).  Got any suggestions for me?

Sorry you're feeling blue! Hate when I can't kick it. Have you tried popping in a comedy on the DVR and grabbing a tub of ice cream? Sometimes just a change of venue does it for me. I'll go to a restaurant and eat dinner and read a book by myself and that will get me 'back in line'

Hope you feel great tomorrow! :)

For me - Okay, I do like red wine and dark chocolate... but just getting out of the house and doing something completely different is great - fresh air and something new to stimulate your brain can be refreshing. Then follow it up with a really great book.

Sorry to hear that you're feeling blue-ish. I think sometimes it's easier to just give in to it, for a day, and acknowledge that you're not feeling high energy or motivated or productive. But sometimes you need to go slower so you can catch up from all those days when you HAVE been high energy/motivated/productive. It gives you a chance to indulge yourself, and I suspect we don't do that enough. :)

I agree with Donna. But...sometimes I have difficulty accepting that I have wasted time being blue...if that makes any sense? Still, when we have these emotions, we have them for a reason (even if it not immediately apparent) and these emotions need to be acknowledge. We are entitle to feel the way we feel. No one else can ever tell us how to feel.

I like to get outdoors, even if it is a slow walk, or losing myself pulling weeds in a flower bed. The sunshine and fresh air do wonders. Oh...music helps me too, if I can't get away. :-)
