Six Sentence Sunday 8/18/2012

Thank you to all who read and comment on this lovely day.  We're getting a hint of fall lately and I'm loving the cooler temps combined with sunshine.

This week we're in chapter nine of Bridging The Gaps.  Ellen has finally gone to see the attorney her friend Georgia suggested weeks before.  Stanley O' Connell is a unique individual: a lawyer with a conscience ;).  He speaks first, followed by Ellen:

“Let me see if I’ve got this.  Twenty five years of marriage.  Four children; two still minors.  And he callously abandons his family for some girlfriend he’s had on the side for…who knows how long.  Is that right?”
“When you put it that way it doesn’t sound very good.”

That's my six for the week.  As Ellen took Georgia's advice, you should take mine: go and visit with my favorite authors on this fine Six Sentence Sunday.

Wow--Kate, how did this one get past all of us?? This is such a great snippet, too! :-)

Ha! I thought I was losing it. But, it's late :-) First, I was trying to figure out how you could backdate the blog and get blogger to post it with an old date. Then, I wondered why blogger posted it out of order. ~sigh~ and then I realized that there is a number 8 missing from the title. Anyway, ~whew~ we didn't all miss a great post! I do love this snippet. A lot of clarity. Doug really is such a snake!

I've been dropping letters and numbers all over the place lately. Don't know whether I'm trying to type too fast, or maybe just not pressing hard enough on the keyboard. Shame I can't fix the date.

I love the lawyer's summary, it really just highlights what a sleazeball jerk Doug is. And since I've read the whole thing, it's astounding to think there's even more to be revealed to show how awful he is...

Ha, no, it doesn't sound very good at all. I love Ellen's wryness here. Great six!

Yep, he sounds like a complete jerk. Ellen's on the right road for sure. Nice six, Kate.

Nope it doesn't sound very good when it's put in those terms. It's a very nice snippet Kate.

LOL I love the last line, tossed in so casual like, like she hadn't been thinking of him that way. Terrific six!

Oh, Kate! Ellen sounds so droll there at the end. Love this snippet. (And FYI, my Lawyer Guy is one of those with a conscience, too. ;-) )

I like the lawyer too, even though he did just spell out her worst nightmare. I want to give her a hug, will you give her one for me :)

Succinct and awful. (The situation, not the writing!) By the way,the date looks like part of the title. Can't you edit that, even after it's posted? I do all the time on WordPress.

Hm...maybe I can. Thought it was just the post text I could edit, but now I'm not sure. I shall investigate.

Nope, it doesn't sound good at all. Very nice exchange. Great six!

Now send some of that nice weather down to the Gulf. It rains so much we're mildewing. Wish some would move to the drought stricken areas.

The lawyer is so matter-of-fact. OMG! He's going to help toughen her up, I bet!

LOL. I don't guess that was meant to be funny, but to say it doesn't sound very good is an understatement at best.

A lawyer with a conscience? not a cnadidate then for Gideon. I think Doug's gonna get what's due him
(I am not able to participate this week due to family issues)

Hope everything is or will shortly be all right Sue. Don't want to give away too much, but rest assured that Doug does get at least some of what he deserves. ;)

It didn't like my first attempt at answering -- let's see if this will work! I loved this, especially her last line. Such a great response. I'm looking forward to reading the whole thing soon. :)

Heartbreaking and sad when viewed this way, a marriage summed up in so many lines. You really made me feel for her. Great six!
