Six Sentence Sundays 4/29/12

Welcome to another Six Sentence Sunday in Kate Warren Land.  Thank you readers and commenters for your support!  You don't know how much it means to me.  I bring you another offering from my upcoming contemporary novel, Bridging The Gaps.

Last week Ellen was having lunch with her old friend Rita, and it turned out Rita's handsome brother Henry was having lunch in the same restaurant.  This week: Ellen's reaction to seeing Henry again after so many years.

Ellen found herself staring.  Henry Caldwell had been smitten with her once upon a time, back when he’d been a hopelessly shy and gangly teenaged boy.  Nothing of that boy was evident in the confident man before her, particularly not the infatuation with her.  He seemed indifferent to her existence, except as a friend of his sister.
“What are you doing here?” Rita questioned
him.

Little do they both know, Rita's got plans for them.  Be sure to check out the other Six Sentence Sunday participants.  You'll be glad you did.

Oh, that broke my heart a little -- that he's no longer infatuated. I guess she's gonna have to change that! I can't wait to see it happen. :)

Or maybe he's much better at hiding his feelings now! Love this type of story when old flames meet again. Looking forward to more!

I bet he's not so indifferent after all. He's just playing the old hard to get strategy! Super six!

I agree--I bet he's not quite so indifferent, but hiding how he truly feels. I love the turnabout in her emotions, how it appears to bother her that he's not so hung up on her anymore. Nice conflict. Great six!

oooh, I think he's just playing indifferent too! I think he's learned to mask his feelings better :) Yay, can't wait to see how this plays out!

You pack a wallop of information in every sentence, Kate. Nicely done! And I will be back next week to see what Rita does next--the little schemer that she is ;-)

I read your excerpt last night. I can't remember is I left a comment. But...it was so good. I loved the realistic reactions of everyone involved. Is it available in ebook?

I always love a good story who feature two characters reconnecting and being forced to deal unresolved issues from their youth. Very nice 6.

Isn't that the way it goes? When he was interested, she wasn't. Now that she is, he isn't. But I suspect he really is, and it will work out for them.

Oh, when are teenage girls gonna learn that the infatuated, awkward ones are always the best catch? Love his confidence; reminds me of some boys I once knew...

(And, I'm glad I can make you smile, sweet cheeks. ;P)

Nothing like going from the object of infatuation to a bare blip on the radar--especially when you've finally taken a serious look. Can't wait to see what happens next.
