Six Sentence Sundays 7/8/2012

How did it get to be Six Sentence Sunday again?  Well I'm happy to say that at least in my neck of the woods the heat wave has abated.  It's still summer, so it's still warmer than I'd like, but compared to before it feels almost cool.

A big fuzzy thank you (you like fuzzy thank yous, right?) to all who read and comment.  I love reading your thoughts each week.  So, let's get to it, shall we?  This week's six comes from the same scene as last week's.

Henry is having dinner with his sister Rita, and her husband Charlie.  Rita is being rather blatant about mentioning Ellen every so often.  We join the three as Rita has said she can't go to see the progress on Henry's new clinic the next day because she has something planned already.  Charlie asks what plans she made.

Out of consideration [Rita] tactfully declined to mention that she told him everything at least twice and he just forgot anything that wasn’t crucial to his game plan.  “A card game at Ellie Pritchard’s.”
Henry checked his watch.  Ten minutes exactly since the last mention.  The government could use someone like his sister.  They’d never miss another budget deadline.

Well that's all I have for this week.  Be sure to visit the dozens of talented authors who participate in this lovely gathering we call Six Sentence Sunday.

At first I thought her constant reminders were cute, but now I'm wondering if she's doing more harm than good? Guess we'll have to read to find out!

Great final line. I have a mother that bears a striking resemblance to his sister. Fantastic six!

Ha! I love this last thought. Very "telling" of her character and their relationship. Great six!

It looks like it's a good thing Rita and Charlie found each other! :)

And I do love Henry and his dry way of looking at things.

Hmmm, Charlie sounds like my husband, forgetting everything although he's been told twice. These characters are very true-to-life. Great six!

If Henry and Ellen get together, it'll be in spite of Rita, not because of her.

Love the dynamics between this brother and sister. She keeps pushing and he keeps listening, but his inner monologue is hilarious. Enjoyed this six, Kate.

I guess most people know someone like Rita. Bless her. And good on Henry for putting up with her - I like him a lot!

I love Henry! He's too funny, dealing so humorously with Rita's less-than-subtle mentions. I like how he handles it -- he's a keeper!
