I've been tagged.  Having never been tagged before, I don't have a speech prepared...

I'm new to memes in general but this looks like serious fun, so I'm going to play.  The rules follow.

Once you are tagged:
*go to page 77 of your current WIP
*go to line 7
*copy down the next 7 lines/sentences as written and post them on your blog or website
*tag 7 other authors
*let them know they've been tagged

I'm taking this literally and copying a full 7 lines, even though it leaves most of a sentence hanging.  Chauncy has just arrived at his cousin Jacqueline's home in France and been shown to the rooms he will occupy during his visit.  He's also on a mission for his King, but no one else knows that.

"There was nothing else for him to do.  Other than Jacqueline, no one had deigned to welcome him to Chateau du Gloire.  He went to the double doors leading to his small balcony.  The air was sweet with bird song.  Sunlight warmed the land, sending up a subtle fragrance of grass and flowers.  Sheep grazed in the distance.  The landscape seemed a contrast to the formality of the chateau.  Looking out upon such a vista, one could hardly imagine secrets and manipulation to live in this place.  Chauncy allowed himself a few moments to breathe in the simplicity, the peace of it.  Soon enough he..."
The seven authors I'm tagging are mostly new friends who have been kind enough to comment on my posts for Six Sentence Sundays:

Jes Langan
Babette James
Kate Meader
Joya Fields
Teresa Cypher
Elaine Cantrell
Lorraine Paton

And thank you to Angela Quarles for tagging me.

Thanks for tagging me, Kate. It's always nice not to have to think of a blog post topic!

Thanks, Kate! What fun. I saw this on other blogs and wished that I would get "tagged"! I just put up a new post this evening, so will do this one on Friday, or Saturday. I'll let you know when it's posted. Thank you, again :-)

I went looking for your lucky seven meme post (above) Ha! Found it here where I had already commented. Hence two comments...

You have such an amazing ability to paint a picture with your words. And the information you slide into seven sentences is great. Especially since it doesn't feel that way--it does not seem that you are dumping information on the reader.

I am hooked. I see a beautiful pastoral scene before Chauncy...and wonder about what intrigue--what deceptions are at court. Beautifully played contrast...

Thank you for tagging me, Kate! This will be fun!

I enjoy in your 7 lines how the "secrets and manipulation" is so incongruent with the bucolic scene of "sheep and grass". Nice. :)

There's some good description there, and you've left me wondering what the secret mission is about!

These memes are fun, aren't they? I just did Lucky 7 today too.

Thanks Chris. This is actually my first meme, but yes it seems to be very fun indeed. I'm looking forward to more of them.

Now I'm wondering if I should tell about the mission. Decisions, decisions...

*hanging head* I so humbly beg your forgiveness...

Please to meet you, "Kate"... not "Karen" as I posted in my link! I am so sorry! I fixed it, so now people following back through will have the correct name. :-) Friends??
